Raging Sea 06:01
Watch you sail away like a raging sea You being angry at you for being angry at me Don’t know just what I’ve done I was only having fun Until it was wrong Can’t imagine a world without you in it I need a breath just give me a minute Can’t figure out who I’m blaming on it But me. Just blame it on me Color’s gone, color blind, deaf and dumb Lost love, lost mind and the sun is gone I shouldn’t be the only one to feel this way June comes, june goes and the winter moon is here And the only thing that soothes is if the clouds don’t clear The dogs don’t bite as hard as they’re barking But I feel this time my skin is broke Sometimes it comes but it don’t leave a mark Though I think this time my heart is broke Watch you sailing back across the ocean Are you coming back for love or another piece of emotion The smile on your face completely disarms me You come in close and put your arms around me I’m still not believing

Nothin' for us in Belfast. The Pound's so old it's a pity Ok, there's the Trident in Bangor, then walk back to the city We ain't got nothin' but they don't really care They don't even know you know Just want our money we can take it or leave it What we need is An Alternative Ulster Grab it and change it it's yours Get an Alternative Ulster Ignore the bores and their laws Get an Alternative Ulster Be an anti-security force Alter your native Ulster Alter your native land Take a look where you're livin' you got the Army on your street And the RUC dog of repression is barking at your feet Is this the kind of place you wanna live? Is this where you wanna be? Is this the only life we're gonna have? What we need is They say they've got control of you But that's not true you know They say they're a part of you And that's a lie you know They say you will never be Free free free

Are teenage dreams so hard to beat? Every time she walks down the street Another girl in the neighbourhood Wish she was mine, she looks so good I wanna hold her, wanna hold her tight Get teenage kicks right through the night I'm gonna call her on the telephone Have her over 'cause I'm all alone I need excitement, oh, I need it bad And it's the best I've ever had I wanna hold her, wanna hold her tight Get teenage kicks right through the night, all right

Danny Boy 06:01
Oh, Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling From glen to glen and down the mountain side The summer's gone and all the roses falling It's you, it's you, must go and I must bide But come ye back when summer's in the meadow Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow It's I'll be here in sunshine or in shadow Oh, Danny boy, oh, Danny boy, I love you so But when ye come and all the flowers are dying If I am dead and dead I well may be You'll come and find the place where I am lying And kneel and say an 'Ave' there for me And I shall hear tho' soft you tread above me And all my grave will warmer, sweeter be For you will bend and tell me that you love me And I shall sleep in peace until you come to me
7.
Did you hear they’re coming back It’s as if they never left us, as if they never left anyway They come back every single day And my chest feels so alive My chest it also hurts, my chest it also hurts Oh, I could die Inside they’re so alive Did I leave you Did I leave you all behind Or, did you leave me Did you leave me here to die And if you’re thinking that I’m running Oh, well, you might be right Did it come, did it go Did I rescue your soul I never meant to fly away Least-ways not without you and I always made excuses Up to now Of how I never had a choice But if I could write to you This is what I’d say, this is what I’d say, I’ve no regrets Oh, except for losing you I was nothing. I was nothing without you There’s no excuse now, let’s try to understand And you’d cry, you’d cry, and say you’re so alone Oh, and I, and I, and I’d come running home I was always there I’d still be if I could
8.
Pull my head back out of the water and ask the question once again Then you hold me down for the longest time When my answer’s just the same I could float downstream if I let it go, lose all the dreams I know Caught up in a lie Out there in the flow It’s crazy that they’re shutting down Everything that’s good all around town I’m looking for the old and the push and the shove And of how it grows from nothing but love A part of me dies once I know Why you backed down from all you told Did you not believe how hard it was to face The meter and the line they waver still I never promised, but I always will It hurts too much to put it in its place It’s darkness for the most of us Oh all the rain we can’t keep off In around amongst ourselves It’s a notion worth reminding
9.
Sonny lives on a farm, in a wide open space Take off your shoes, stay out of the race Lay down your head, on a soft river bed Sonny always remembers the words Mamma says. Sonny don’t go away, I’m here all alone Your Daddy’s a sailor, never comes home, Nights are so long, silence goes on, I’m feeling so tired and not all that strong Sonny works on the land, though he’s barely a man There’s not much to do but he does what he can Sits by his window in his room by the stairs Watching the waves drifting soft on the pier. And it’s a hundred miles to town, Sonny’s never been there And he goes to the highway and stands there and stares And the mail comes at four and the mailman is old Oh, but he still has his dreams, full of silver and gold. Many years have rolled on, Sonny’s old and alone His Daddy the sailor, never came home Sometimes he wonders what his life might have been But from the grave Mamma still haunts his dreams.
10.
Would you please take the time to ease my mind Of the worry I find Every time I turn around I see a sea of faces going places Whatever your taste is They’re marching for your freedom A decline in understanding is A rise in inflammation of my Guile and it’s the reason I’m running Heart and it’s the reason that I’m scared Oh, and hope That I’m not the only one With a reason to fear We’re not getting out of here Tap me on the shoulder, or push me over But now that I’m older I don’t take that sitting down And oh, they’re turning over cars Breaking windows in bars Setting fire to the street Or are they singing - Beautiful singing Oh, we’re righting wrongs And we’re singing songs And so we fight, so we don’t have to fight Oh for things deserved In this troubled world And so together we are stronger than we were

about

Most people just consider me from Ireland, and whatever the picture-postcard version of that is. The thing is, I’m not. I’m from Belfast. Belfast in the late 70’s could be a harsh place to live.
The music that this political and cultural climate spawned was something a little special and continues to be.
At home, my mum would be singing traditional Irish and American country songs and out with my mates we were blaring punk and classic rock from a cheap boombox. Looking back, I can see how little pieces of all of these styles show up in the songs I write.
This album is just a fraction of that musical journey mixing traditional Irish, rock, punk and my own originals.I hope it inspires you to seek out other incredible music from my home town, past, present, or new.
